I understand the security checks but what is really disapointing is that the personnel is rude and did not provide correct information. My case did not allowed to taken souvernis saying is fragile and they could be broken. Fortunately they allowed me to came back and check-in but some of the items they claiming to be prohibited are the same ones sold in the duty free store.

Poorly trained Personnel. Security checks are horrible. I got checked like 4 times!!!! Passengers are checked bodily in a very disrespectful inhumane manner. No respect to the privacy of your body. So much none sense in the Passport check. After getting your passport stamped another officer checks on the stamp. And finally the passport is checked again in order to register its number in an old fashioned registration book per Hand!!!!!!!!

I also wonder, why are they hiring beggers at the security check. Those who are putting the luggage on the X-ray checking device keep asking people for money. Especially if they notice you are an egyptian.

My checked in Bag had a Samsung S22 hone ( in the box). When I reached home I did not find the phone. It was stolen at Borg Al Arab Airport by the bag handlers!

It does not have conditions to be an airport. The people who work here have no skills and above all no respect. I am Portuguese, my boyfriend is from Guinea Bissau but we are currently both living in Egypt due to his work. Every time he has to leave egypt and re-enter it is a mess. To give you an idea, I'm currently sitting in a chair for about 7 hours now. W Waiting for someone to give us permission to go home. We have been in this country for a year and our passports are full of visas for entering and leaving this country (including my boyfriend's). During these time that we are waiting to go home, the only information they give us is the following “we are waiting for Cairo airport to call us, as we do not have a system”. What kind of airport doesn't have access to everything needed to complete a trip? It’s tiring and indignant to have to go through this every time we enter this country. Unfortunate.

Hello Alexandria's airport security check team,

After my family and I had a great memorable vacation time in Alexandria, I flew to Rome today 12 January 2023 at 14:10. When I passed the security check, the officers stopped me to check my bag and they went thru all my staff in my bag & took out my souvenir which was a set of espresso cups (6 cups and two tea mugs). They told me I was not allowed to take it. I explained it was not antic or as they see it it was not many cups and I did not want to check it in case if it breaks, but no one was interested to listen to me. I also had a different less than 500 grams spices and they also took that. I told them I don't want to loose it and would rather to check in but they refused for me to go out check my bag and come back again. I am very very very very upset and disappointed. I am asking what is the rule or if it is a rule or limitation to take out small items why it's not on the website. I don't want to happen to other tourists and disseminate this information to the world, please explain to me why this happen to me.

Great airport, especially for Egyptian standards. Year after year I see improvements made and a staff that is very open for ideas on how to improve the customer experience. Keep this up!

for the leaders and the managers of this airport, please show some respect to the one who is coming or travelling. Qs are the worst the trolleys are the worst if you are lucky to find one. if you do not care about us (Egyptians) please care about the tourists. the first scene any tourist will see is the Q on the passport check and how it is crazy small place not enough for capacity of one flight imagine if there 2 flights. the Quick Service, you have to put it in a different place not just behind the Q and what they will do they will go to the same officer but from a shortcut which delays more and more the people in the Q. if you passed the Q safely they will wait for the luggage looking for a good enough trolley to put their bag on and final Q which is the craziest one or two people from customs are fetching almost 100 pax if it is not more imaging how long it takes to step in an endless Q without any organization.
this all article is only for the arrival experience and i wont go for the departure because it much worse.
We really have Egyptian expertise in handling airport operation but as long as it is governmental positions nothing will change.
if you need advise from someone who worked in an international world class Airports for only 3 years let me know. I can share lots of advises and consultation which does not cost you anything but will gain much revenue for you and much respect for the city/country we belong.

Very poor service
Arrived at the airport car park 105 minutes before my departure time which should be enough time with such small airport

- No baggage trolley in the car park, it took me more than 20 minutes to find one (family with 6 bags)
- you've to que twice and show your ticket for security staff who don't read English
- Pass through scanning system (only 1 lane) if any passenger has suspicion item all que has to stop rather take him a side

I missed my flight because of all above but the main reason there was no trolleys in the car park when I arrived at the airport.
I've complained on 25th August 2022 reference number 539 and waited for 12 days now but no one bother to respond to my complaint.
This matter will be escalate to Ministry of Civil Aviation also will be published everywhere until I get REASONABLE response to my complaint and find out how they'll compensate my for wasting my time / financial losses / putting me and my family under stress

Unfortunately its worst experience in traveling

Alexandria deserve a class A airport not such a waste

Staff is very ill behaved and rude. They need to understand the different cultures before laughing on the passengers. I will need to think before coming to Egypt again after such behaviour at the airport. Horrible stuff!!

The Airport security employees are very very poor educated, they don't know much about international rules and law.

I work as an incident commander in an airport basically in the same size as HBE airport and have all the education needed to preform basic security operations.

This airport is not following any of ICAO and IATA's international rules and law, when i had to speak to many security guards and officers they did not know what it was or what it stands for that made feel really unsecure and not safe to travel from such an airport so next time i will choose another airport.

For those who don't know what is ICAO and IATA:

IATA: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) supports aviation with global standards for airline safety, security, efficiency and sustainability.

ICAO: The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized and funding agency. It changes the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth

P.S be aware of your own rights because these guys can and will take your personal stuff for their own use such as electronics, cigarettes etc.

From the first moment you arrive to airport till you get in : unprofessional attitudes & rudeness from everyone When you simply compare it to an any international airport you visited !!!
Ending with the poor experience with Prima Cafe shop when you feel extremely abused & buy anything much much higher than any international cost; without price list or invoice !!!

Indeed, regardless low level of the bulling and the hygiene which is debatable. The behavior of the airport's staff was very bad. for instance, during all my processes at the airport no-one from the staff said for me Please or Excuse-me even no one smile to me when taking of handing documents. Even-thought, when i said for any one thanks or any compliment expression no-one reply to me.
Actually, this miserable attitude annoyed me immensely.

Honestly, I wrote this massage because i love my country, and these small mistakes give bad impression about our lovely homeland.

during the boarding procedures of flight number SM305 fly aircairo on 13th Feb 2016. there was complete mess. the gate was different than the announced. the employees were simple shouting at the passengers even the ladies. how come you are looking for higher rates of tourists and you have such employees???

هذا بالاضافة الي راحة الركاب

Nice building completely let down by inept management. For economy poor queuing experiences for checking in and security. Long waits are known for bags. The First class lounge used by Qatar has to be the worst on the network. Room with a few sofas and a noisy air conditioning system but bereft of any food and drink. A miserable employee turns up occasionally and will begrudgingly get you a warm Pepsi and crisps. Some 5 star service this is.

The people in this airport have no shame and disrespect women ...stripped me to my undergarments because I was a pakistani British .. They were keen to find something ..they didn't and that's when they did a strip search..I'm a young muslim women who enjoyed visiting my very close friends but never again in my life I will ever go back to Egypt ...I'm afraid they invaded my privacy..and out of the 60 women they only searched me like this

Immigration lines are ridiculos in both entering and exiting with only two cubicles open and sometimes only one. This is appalling. Cutoms officials require xray machines.
The Business Class Lounge is a joke for Le 120 usage.
Duty Free has no Egyptian Souvenirs.
The actual airport is nice and modern but the management is still in the dark ages...

I have egypt air gold card and when i tried to use the business lounge, i was rudely told by the lady at the entrance that i have to pay 150 EGP if i have to use the lounge.this is really surprising.even if i have economy class boarding pass, the gold card holders are allowed to use business lounge at other places.

Is there any transportation facilities between the airport and the city centre? how can I get Alexandria downtown from the airport?

Most of airports system around the world you do the C/I for ur luggages & you're free to go anywhere till your flight time.you go threw the security gate & then you'll wait boarding.why Borg El Arab is doing the opposite first the security gate then boarding? is it possible to change that?

This is a true snap shot about what is happening in the country and it is the best tool to give you a worst first impression ,you have to wait in a silly Que to get passport stamped by an officer who should be serving almost 200 people ,you have to wait for your bags almost an hour surrounded by people who wants to get your money for nothing plus the dirt which is every where and the toilets that really needs to be clean and smell less also the way they search in your bag is stupid and the taxi drivers that waiting for you to also bullshit the tourists and get their money that is shame for a country that has one third of the old world wonders and remains i hope in my next visit to see a change of the place and the attitude of the people and i suggest the manager to share his vision with his team if he has .Good Luck

Egypt is an inspiring place and I was one of the tourists , who along with my 82 year old mother, was privileged to visit your beautiful country. The happiness quotient I had gained while visiting your country hit a bump ,when we entered Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria. We were made to stand in a check in queue for more than an hour, due to a sluggish check in system software as informed , in a lobby where as, once again informed, the air conditioning was not functioning effectively, hence it was very hot!. The Borg El Arab airport is beautiful, just like Egypt, but some of the airport infrastructure as stated above was sadly lacking. I am sure having brought it your notice,in good faith , it will be addressed satisfactorily at the earliest and once addressed , will be maintained and improved on. After all I doubt the beautiful Egyptians want their visitors leaving your beautiful country with a tarnish on their happy memories. To your credit the service personnel are very polite, well mannered and patient!

Borg ELarab international airport

its the Gate to birds house,from this airport you can fly every where .With its new terminal you will enjoy your time at the airport.

A small but functional airport. You just need to be patient , untill the officers start isuuing visas and stamp the passports. But once they start usually every thing runs smooth and easy. The costums are very decent. I did not feel i have to bribe anyone as in a cooment i read. No car rental office is available yet Limosine service is available and very nice and swift. also taxi and bus transportation from an to the airport are available. Overall it is a good start and i hope it will be better when the new terminal opens by the end of this year.

This is a tiny airport and as you deboard the plane and queue up for your immigration visa (Which is issued on arrival) you will be delayed as the officer chats to everyone who passes through his station. He talks to the children, welcomes all and smiles. I have arrived at this airport on twelve occasions every summer for years and it is just a simple easy and efficient outline airport on the north coast. Do NOT expect standards like other airports, it is SMALL. Enjoy this airport and BE POLITE and patient.

Worst Airport in the world. If you want to get through the airport and be treated like a decent human being, you will have to pay for it. Make sure you bring extra change, you will have to bribe the customs (even if you have nothing to declare) you have to pay So make sure you have extra change with you.If you booked a cab, well I doubt it will be waiting for you. Its basically an airport that treats its visitors like animals. No wonder all major airlines have cancelled their routes to borg alarab
